Lunch Day! It's a highlight for both grown-ups and kids!
Our school does not have a regular tuckshop, however, one of our most popular and successful fundraising P&F activities each year is our volunteer run “Lunch Days".
We hold 8 to 10 Lunch Days throughout the year and orders are placed through the Qkr! app. Usually a week before the scheduled Lunch Day, an email will be sent advising families that orders are able to be placed on Qkr! and letting them know the date and time when the orders will close off.
Lunch Days would not be possible without the support of volunteers either baking some treats and/or assisting in the school kitchen with preparing lunch orders. At the beginning of Term 1, the Co-ordinator will put a call out for volunteers.
Baking:
Home baked treats such as cupcakes and slices are always highly sought-after items on the menu. Volunteers will be advised the number of treats to prepare and are asked to bring to the kitchen by 8.30am on Lunch Day.
A container will be sent home to the bakers rostered on in the days before Lunch Day to assist with transporting the treats to school without needing to individually wrap items to reduce waste.
Kitchen:
Volunteers are asked to come along to the school kitchen from 8.30am to 11.30am and help the Lunch Day Co-ordinator prepare the orders. It's good fun and a great way to get to know other parents, plus there's usually a cuppa involved before the action picks up prior to the first bell going and mouths are hungry!
Depending on numbers, volunteers are usually rostered to help on 2 or 3 Lunch Days throughout the year.
